Bujeon Market grew out of the postwar refugee economy and today sits at the heart of Bujeon Market Town, a large traditional market district formed by six connected markets. Produce, seafood, household goods, ginseng, and electronics all circulate through the area, so it feels less like a staged tourist stop and more like an active downtown market used by local shoppers and merchants.
It is better understood as a broad market zone rather than a single building or one short alley. Everyday shoppers, restaurant buyers, and casual visitors move through different sections at different rhythms, which is why the area still reads as a working local market in central Busan.
It fits easily into a wider Seomyeon day, but the point of the visit is the market district itself rather than the Seomyeon shopping strip. The area is large enough that it helps to decide in advance whether you are going for groceries, market food, or general shopping.
